Ok. I want to start out saying this is NOT a political rant about the Healthcare bill! If you are reading this for an argument you need to stop reading now! I am going to rant a bit, though, about how disappointed I am with this country! No, I am not taking a stand on way or another…this has nothing to do with the bill itself, but the reaction! I have been on Facebook. I have engaged myself in many discussions……and I have been called every name in the book! I’ve been told I’m stupid, an idiot, and I don’t know what I’m talking about! I’ve been called rich and privileged because I currently have health insurance.( Well, on that note, my husband is a Naval Officer. He is out there defending our freedom to rant!) Come on people! We are not second graders fighting at recess! We are grown ups having grown up conversations! Why must we resort to name calling when you don’t agree with the other party?? I thought we all were better than that!
We live in a great country, one where we have freedom of speech, among one of the many freedoms we have as Americans. But I have to stop at the name calling…it’s uncalled for. If you can’t think of anything else, but to call others names…..well shame on you!
I think we all need to practice a little respect. For each other, for the laws, the President, etc. Respect each others opinion, whether you agree or not. If you want to respond, then respond with a firm statement (preferably backed by a fact), and don’t start the statement with “hey idiot” or “you’re and idiot”. I have even had friends say they don’t want to be friends with people who are Conservatives or who are Liberal! Come on now, grow up! You were friends with them before you knew their political opinion, why change? Just don’t talk about politics with them! Find other common ground!
Well, I got it off my chest! Please be nice to one another! 🙂
