As many of you may know, we welcomed baby #4 (P4) into the world September 13 @ 11:17 pm PST. He weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and was 21 inches long! Kiran Tanuki is his name, And daddy was very involved with the birth….in fact he actually “caught” baby Kiran with the help of a midwife, and cut the cord! The birth story is kind of boring and uneventful and well, short! Basically I thought my water broke after the older kids’ karate class, so we drove to the hospital to be checked out. After gathering hubby’s things and finding the carseat and many returns into the house to get things we forgot, we headed for the hospital. Turns out my water had NOT broken but I was dialated at 5 cm so they admitted me anyway. By the time I got to the “birthing” room and all checked in it was about 7:30 and I started feeling a few contractions…I decided to get an epidural because I was having a tubal after and could be wheeled directly into surgery after birth. So we waited for the anesthesiologist. He came along, numbed me and we waited. After a short wait the midwife decided to break my water and things stopped. Oh great. At the threat of bringing in the pictocin, things got rolling again, and again I told the hubby to get the midwife…it was time. When the midwife came in she actually said “oh look there is his head”! Hubby wanted to be involved so the midwife delivered the head and shoulders and hubby helped to deliver the rest and cut the cord. It was a very relaxed, calm birth. And my husband caught our fourth kid! I could not have hoped for a better birth of our last kid!
So here we are, a week later, settling into the pace of life with a 4 year old, three year old, 22 month old and 1 week old.
